How to boil raw Peanuts?? | Boiled Peanuts(Ground Nuts)

Fresh raw peanuts are high in niacin, folate ,vitamin B6 and vitamin E.They are also rich in magnesium, iron, phosphorous.Raw peanuts are high in fat and calories,a cup of which provides 828 calories and 72g fats,24g carbohydrates and 37 g protein(read more here). So,try to consume not more than a cup as snack but it is good choice for people on low carbohydrate high protein diet. Our last month's visit to Indian stores always ensured to carry a bag of these peanuts back home.My elder son is a big fan of these and so insisted always. They are delicious to snack on and simple healthy too.I remember having this as a child when mom used to make this at home in season time.Nothing much to pin down in this post as its familiar with most of us.But still if its helpful to someone who doesn't know what to do with fresh peanuts, then here it is friends.Enjoy at home !!!
(before boiling,fresh peanuts)

Preparation time~ 15 mins
Cooking time~15 mins
Serves~ 4

fresh peanuts 1.5 lb(800g)
salt as  required(about 1.5tbsp-2tbsp)
water 7 cups

  • Wash the fresh peanuts under running water to remove any mud and impurities.
  • Add this to a pressure cooker with salt and enough water.Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on stove top for 2 whistles on high flame.Switch off flame.Wait till pressure is released and then drain all the water and serve just like that !!

* You can make peanut chaat or peanut sundal with these peanuts or snack them just like that.
* Add salt to make salted water and should be on the higher side. Then only the salt seeps in the ground nuts to add flavor.'
* If you have more peanuts and would like to store. Then, boil only that much as required and store the fresh ones just like that. They can be boiled some other day and used. The boiled one don't store well.

*Peanut Chaat
*Peanut Chikki(Brittle)
*Peanut Mint Chutney
