Oats Dosa~ No grinding,No fermentation (Instant and quick ,fibre Rich)

Oats can be used in a wide variety of recipes as cookies, cakes, soups, upma, and is also taken as porridge itself. It is not a new entity to neither of us nor is a dosa ..But when you say an instant dosa ,it means no fermentation,no grinding,no storage,no preparation and you end up making an oats dosa on a lazy weekend morning !!!

And you can surprise everyone at home with a new taste of dosa and a new recipe with oats.I too tried this out with my family on a gloomy morning and the smiles of kids refreshed my day after having their yummy  oats dosa :-)

Ingredients
oats -1 1/2 cup (I used the regular old fashioned oats)
curd - thick- 5 tsp (preferably mild sour)
salt as required
water -1/2 cup or as per required to make a batter for dosa
baking soda ~ a pinch(optional

Method

  • Add the oats in a bowl, add the curd, salt and water.preapre a batter not too thick or thin.
  • Add the pinch of baking soda.(just to get the bubbles like the fermented usual dosa batter)
  • Heat a non stick pan or a dosa tawa and place on medium heat.
  • Pour the batter using a ladle and spread outwards.
  • Flip and turn the other side once this side turns light brown.
  • Repeat the same with other dosas.
  • I served it hot with tomato chutney !!

Servings 10 dosas

TIPS
*you can make the batter with jaggery and prepare a sweet version dosa too.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE dosa but have always been intimated by making it. I am definitely going to try this...can I use yogurt or sour cream in place of the curd?
